Gearing up for outdoor living beginning with a table make-over…

So as the weather here in Florida nears that perfect state of warm and dry not hot and humid I find myself drawn to spending more time outdoors. This means getting the outdoor living space ready for play and entertaining.

First on that outdoor to-do list was figuring out what to do with our table. We had our carpenter create a very simple, pine table made from scrap wood from other projects we had completed around the house.

I decided to stain the table a dark color. I wanted a color that wasn’t black but close to it but that still allowed some of the grain of the wood to show. I also wanted a matte finish. I think I did it.

I still have some touching up to do and am planning on another coat of stain to the legs but am living with it for a while to see if it’s really necessary. Here is the table pre-stain:

And here it is post-stain:

Next on my to-do is making stools or maybe side tables from these road-side finds:

I’ll keep you posted on that project as it progresses. Hoping to achieve something similar to these images:

Little words, big message…

Valentine's Day project

I just received these new stamps that I am so excited about! I think they are just lovely! I was itching to use them and decided to create a sweet message for my son from his dad and myself to hang near his bed.

I’ve seen around the internet prints that read, “everyday I love you” and decided to tweak that a bit so that it said “we” instead of “i”.

I really like the way it came out.

Such few words but with a beautiful message.

What do you think?

Eye Spy with my little eye an indobay home with HEART{s)…

I love hearts and not just for Valentine’s Day.

Here are a few little corners of my home that make me smile EVERYDAY!

My kittie Wampus is one of my biggest "hearts"

Wishing you a day full of HEART & LOVE!

Groundhog Sees Shadow…Huh?

Feels like Spring here in Orlando

I had all kinds of plans this morning about projects I was going to work on. Yet, it is just too darn nice outside!  Spring has Sprung here in Florida and this gal has Spring Fever, no matter what the ol’ Groundhog says.

So I decided today I would pull out the hose and the wood cleaner and give the outdoors a good scrubbing! Move over kitties ‘cuz you guys are having some company today. :)

Nothing like scrubbing and then hosing everything down for that feeling of satisfaction

Table got a good scrubbing. Thinking of staining the table darker. What do you think?

Moved some of the potted plants to scrub them down. You don't even want to know what was growing underneath!

Cherry tomatoes and Brussels sprouts blooming

My 16 year old kittie lapping up some water...refreshing!

indobay fort

My son's fort is next! A little afraid of seeing what is up there!

For those of you in the throws of Winter, let’s hope the Groundhog was WRONG! :)
